Denise Marmelstein, MA, BA
Background and Experience Denise Marmelstein is a learning disabilities specialist trained in the United States. Her Masters degree is in Special Education-Educational Psychology from New York University with a permanent teaching license from the New York City Board of Education. She has worked in the field of education as a teacher, learning specialist and bilingual evaluator in New York and Spain. She has set up educational curriculum for various private schools, designed teaching materials and set up the teacher training department for one of the major educational publishing companies in the world, HarperCollins Publishers.
Denise has also been an Educational Consultant and Teacher Trainer for schools in Spain and with International Schools throughout Europe doing educational workshops and seminars. She has set up the first program at the American School of Barcelona for children with different learning needs. Denise has also served on the Board of Directors at this school for a period of three years. Her area of specialization is Bilingual Educational Assessments (Spanish/English) as well as individualized remediation. She strongly recommends that bilingual children should be assessed in both their native and secondary or school language if possible. Denise currently works with multilingual students from many of Barcelona’s international schools in the areas of assessment, remediation, individualized programs and teacher or parent training.
Denise Marmelstein has a passion for children and understanding each student’s learning differences. She strongly believes that enabling a student to reach his/or her own maximum potential has a significantly positive impact not only on academic performance but more importantly in enhancing a greater sense of self esteem.
