Background Information

Dr. Jenkins is an American infant, child, and adolescent psychologist that holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology (concentration in Child Development) a Masters degree in School Psychology, an Advanced Practicing Degree in School Psychology and a Doctorate degree in School Psychology. While in the USA, she worked in infant/ toddler/ preschool special education centers, in-patient psychiatric centers for children ages 5 to 18, and adult centers for the developmentally disabled. Her particular area of research while in the USA was on the developmental and neurological effects resulting from prenatal exposure to crack and cocaine on infants and toddlers.

Dr. Jenkins moved to the United Kingdom in 1992, when receiving an Honorary Psychologist position with the National Health System in London. During this post, she was assigned to be the on-site Psychologist in GP surgeries in SW London, to work on the Learning Disabilities Assessment Team at St. Thomas’ Hospital, and on the clinical family team at St. Mary’s Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital. In addition, she held a specific post at the Young Abusers Project, then located at the Tavistock Clinic, developing the psychological assessment protocol for youth sex offenders, co-leading group therapy sessions, and completing research in the area of youth sex offenders.

In 1996 Dr. Jenkins relocated to Barcelona, where she worked on various publications and edited doctoral dissertations for students. In 1998 she started consulting with the international schools in Barcelona, providing parent and teacher consultation, as well as psychological and psycho-educational assessment for students. Through her private practice she additionally provides individual therapy for children and adolescents (up to age 21). Dr. Jenkins enjoys giving parenting talks at schools and other local facilities.
